This is, at best, a scummy business practice that is subjecting their customer support teams to who knows how many angry customer calls. When a few days later nothing happened and I called back, they said that they "couldn't" make the change. Then when I called they said they would make the adjustment. Well, actually, they first refused (over chat). This is what happened to me on July 22, 2023. When literal minutes later (in my case within the hour), you notice that you are not on the plan you thought you were signing up for, and call them, THEY REFUSE to make the correction on their end. This is done in a way that's underhanded and entirely not obvious. Then they'll automatically place you in the lowest one that (in their estimation) you need. However, when you sign up for Mint Mobile using a mobile app, they will ask you a bunch of questions about your bandwidth needs. In fact, that's $15/month for 3 months only, but the other key word is "unlimited". They advertise EVERYWHERE "Unlimited everything for $15/month". Mint Mobile's sign-up process is deceptive, and their follow-up even worse. Mint Mobile will trick you into signing up for the 5GB plan, and when you notice refuse to upgrade you Update: After babysitting the chat window for 2 hours waiting for response, wondering if I was disconnected, typing 'hello' in the meantime, Agent initiated the chat and provided the account number and PIN at 11:46AM. On 4 different occasions in past day, I have been on hold for two hours before call or chat gets disconnected or NO response. I needed account number and transfer pin so I can switch to different carrier with the same phone number. When you want to close the account, no answer. When opening an account they respond in one second. Infomationly, I am 78 years old and a retired AT&T employee. I am thoroughly satisfied with Mint, especially since I only pay $15 month instead of over $50. As for any service issues such as no connection, drop calls and so on, I have not had any of those issues. Admittedly, Mint customer service leaves a lot to be desired, but I don't have any of the issues that I've read in the negative reviews here. To solve this issue, AT&T removed my # from the family plan and set it up on a single line account. Turns out that since I was on a family plan with AT&T, my # wouldn't port. The only problem I had was transferring/porting my phone number from AT&T to Mint. I originally did the 7 day trial and then went with the 12 month plan. They have had absolutely no problems even when they were driving from the east coast to Texas. They originally lived on the north east coast and last year moved to Texas. My daughter and her family has two lines on Mint and have had that service for a long time. Since I only do talk and text, I decided to try a different service. I was paying over $50 per month for their unlimited plan which had 4 other phone numbers on it (family members). ![]()
